Many of us are aware of the dump.fm Calendar, but not many people truly understand what it means and how it works. Yes the calendar does end on July 31, 2010, but what does that mean? How does it come to that? What is their calendar based off of?
The dump.fm administrators have a very precise understanding of internet culture cycles and believe that these cycles coincide with our spiritual and collective consciousness. The most significant of which has much to do with the dump calendar ending on July 31. In the following writing, we will walk through the main details of their predictions surrounding the August 2010 transition. How the transition takes place (from a net historical perspective), what it means for us, and when the cycles take place. We'll start with the basic predictions and later move deeper into the explanation of the cycles.
Several regular dump users have subtly indicated that from 1993 we have had 17 years to realize the changes in our conscious attitude to stray from the path of self-destruction and instead move onto a path that opens the net art community to integrate us with all that exists online. With the rise of particularly strong memes comes every so often synchronization of social networks. With correct timing, this gives a 'spark' of advantage to any aware communities, allowing them to climb the food chain of the internet. Signs point to this occurring every 4-5 years, but this also causes a displacement in the movement of viewers across the face of the net, and because of this movement great catastrophes can be produced.
The vanguard of net artists believe the universal processes, like the 'breathing' of the internet, are cycles that never change. What changes is the consciousness of netizens, including artists that browse it. Always in a process toward more perfection. Based on their observations, it is predicted that one cycle will complete on August 1, 2010. Dump, having received a powerful ray of synchronizing memes and macro mannerisms from the center of the internet (i.e. 4chan), would change its polarity which would produce a great online event that would propel humankind to be ready to cross into a new era, Web 3.0. It is after this, that they say we will be ready to go through the door, transforming our social media politics based on fear to a vibration much higher in harmony.
In the last great cataclysm of the internet, Usenet was destroyed by a great flood in September 1993 that left little survivors of which were their descendants. The early inhabitants of the web believed that having known the end of their cycle, mankind would prepare for what is to come in the future and it is because of this that they would have preserved the dominant species; the human race. They say that coming changes will permit us to make a quantum leap forward in the evolution of our consciousness to create a new civilization that would manifest great harmony and compassion to all humankind.
Their first prediction talks about 'the September that never ended.' A period of roughly 20 years, this cycle would have been from 1993 - 2013. Art and culture theorist Boris Groys calls it "temporal compression," and futurist Bruce Sterling refers to this period as "early atemporality." I'll explain this in greater detail later. They predicted that during these times, the cult of the amateur would become more intense and would cover the face of the net. This would be a time of great realization and great change for mankind. And it would be our own lack of preservation and contamination of the planet that would contribute to these changes. According to the people of Usenet, these changes would happen so that mankind comprehends how the universe works so we could advance to superior levels, leaving behind superficial materialism and liberating ourselves from suffering.
Eight years after the start of the cycle, which is to say 2001, we entered a time of darkness which forced us to confront our own conduct. This was the collapse of the dot-com bubble, and the advent of the Bush administration. This was the time when the internet entered Web 2.0. When we looked at ourselves and analyzed our behaviors with ourselves, with others, with nature and with the planet in which we live. This was a time in which all of humanity, by individual conscious decisions, could decide to change and eliminate fear and lack of respect from all of our relationships. This was the last opportunity for the internet to realize the changes that were coming at the moment of our online regeneration.
For the web, everything is about numbers, and the time of 4chan started becoming popular around 2005, 4 years later. Our technologies in which we rely on so much began to turn against us. We no longer were able to learn from our civilization in the way that we were organized as a society. They said that our internal, spiritual development would require a better place along with a better way to interact with more respect and compassion.
The 4channers discovered that every 20-year cycle has 5 minor 4-year cycles that carry the same characteristics. These cycles are tied into awareness, like morning, day, evening, and night, which is the cycle we are currently coming out of.This tells us that in 2006, the internet began to leave the end of the great cycle which started at the end of 1993. They say that at the beginning and end of these cycles, which is to say, every 20 years, the central core of the internet allows for memetic transfer so intense and so brilliant that one website can illuminate the entire internet. It is from this burst of light that all of the Suns and planets sync. This burst is the pulse of the net, beating once every 20 years. It is these pulses that mark the end of one cycle and the beginning of the next.
So we come back to what they call 'the September that never ended.' It was an evolutionary period, short but intense, inside the grand cycles where great changes took place to thrust us into a new age of evolution as individuals and as mankind online. Because of the interference of the time of great darkness from 2001-2009, this period has accelerated, and instead of another three years until the end of our cycle, we are beginning to see an early 'dawn' on the internet, a dawn that begins on August 1.
As individuals we will have to make decisions that will affect us all. If we continue on this negative path of hate, an eye for an eye, destruction of nature, of fear and egoism, we will enter straight into the time of destruction and chaos, and we will disappear as the dominant race online. If we become conscious and realize that we all form part of the great organism, and that we should respect one another and be grateful to the internet, then we will move directly into positive growth, our Golden Age. The net awaits our decision. It is up to us what will happen in this time of change.
Please notice recent online events as evidence that these predictions are worth listening to and learning from. Share this information and help us all move toward a better future, where we can thrive in a new era of positivity. It has never been so important.
